electronic stuff

hey all,
I thought to check my email at school before heading south and found a big mess.  If you are trying to do electronic stuff bring it on a flash drive or have it in my teacher desk folder by 8 AM  on the 3rd.

The school mail serve just crashed.  Jason I think I got most of your stuff and I got Jerie's journal

Chemotaxis results

Chemotaxis index = I

DATA DEADLINE other students need your data for their abstracts.  All data should be posted here by Monday 12/12/2011 by 11:59PM.

For example, I tested Sequoia and Leptospermum
Sequoia,  I= 0
Leptospermum,  I = -0.22

you do not need to include my data in the abstract.

Abstract

General information for the abstract

What is an abstract?  It is similar to the formal laboratory write ups done in class; except much more succinct.  Be careful shorter does not mean easier, your word choice must be more precise and accurate to logically express four labs (NPDD extraction, NPDD assay, meeting the worms and chemotaxis).

Five Sections for research abstract
  • Significance
This would be similar to the social context component in the OHS lab write up.  Why is this science important? What are the societal implications?  1-4 sentences.
  • Question, Will the tested aromatic plant compounds inhibit growth and/or negatively affect the behavior of invertebrates?
  • Procedures: summarize what we did each day.  This should be done in about one sentence for each day that we met in class for the labs.
  • Results:  Show what happened.  Include photos or drawings of the results and make graphs that show the results for all trials conducted by all students in Bio Enriched.
  • Conclusions: In very clear terms that can easily be understood explain your results.  1-4 sentences.

I may have few poster boards for folks that want to display their abstracts or you can use a cheap clear report cover to bind your abstract or do it electronically.  Use full sized sheets of paper for each graph and each drawing/photo.  What ever format it is meant to be presented and easily viewed/read as if on a poster board.
